Thoughts: Shopping & Spending – The Drug that only kills through the side effects of its addiction.

When I was younger I was the greatest consumer. Like a drug I felt a high when I stepped into an electronics department of a store or a computer shop. Now, I find myself only shopping out of necessity and while experiencing a feeling of depression wash over me when I find myself within a big box store in general.

I like to think I have broken the chains of this addiction yet I suspect I still splurge in other ways.

Thoughts: Money and the Private/Public problems.

The writing on the wall is very clear and even corporate America can see the dark times approaching, which is why they are pushing cuts to government social welfare programs.

The logic suggest if the government stops spends thus taxing the people will have more money for citizens to spend. However, such a fiscal action would only delay the pain while the corporate pockets are lined with any extra cash people might have,

The only solution is to cut the artificial price hikes and unreal amounts of profit.

The Pig Trail Experience

The other day while taking a Sunday drive throughout the great state of Arkansas we came across the Pig Trail Bypass gas station off highway 16 heading towards Fayetteville. The outside of the building had a huge banner stretched out across the building of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad which stated Ahmadinejad was a terrorist.

Now, I sat in the car but my brother went into the station to pre-pay for the gas. He came out pumped the gas then quickly got in the car making claims that the foreign man working in the station was possibly the devil. The only reasoning I could figure out for this accusation is that his fear came from a story about some ghost like people eating food in the café part of the store and the Devil himself who tried to charge my brother $5 dollars so he could use the restroom.

Needless to say my brother left the station in such a hurry that he forgot to put the gas cap on the car or close the gas tank lid.
